Is the Hot Route Master passive trait for quarterbacks the best

  • Escape Artist received significant balance changes in Madden 23. Players who want the ability Escape Artist on their scrambling quarterbacks will have to earn it as an X-factor since it is not the meta superstar ability. Since Escape Artist is no longer an option, does this mean that Hot Route Master is the best passive trait for a quarterback in Madden 23?

    The Hot Route Master gives your receivers and running backs access to four more hot routes than they would normally have. But keep in mind that the routes that are open to them are determined by where they are on the line of scrimmage.

    A tight end who lines up on the line of scrimmage takes a different route than one who is split out wide. You will be able to access those other routes if you move that TE to the wide position. After you have set the TE's individual inside route, you can motion the TE to have them run Madden NFL 23 Coins along the perimeter by telling them to do so. The Trail and Texas Routes are two excellent illustrations of this.

    The ability to improvise different flood and level concepts during any play is the most impressive feature of Hot Route Master. Both ideas involve taking quick, intermediate, and lengthy paths to one side of the playing field. Therefore, when Tom Brady walks up to the line and reads Cover 2, he has the ability to hot route into a flood concept and hit either his tight end in the corner or his running back in the flat.

    Tom Brady is the only starting quarterback in the game to have the Hot Route master skill, and he is the only one who has it. You can always add HRM to your MUT QB, Face of the Franchise QB, or Franchise QB by going to the Abilities tab on their player profile and giving them the ability to do so.

    Set your audibles

    • The most important aspect of successfully running your offense is to be able to switch plays at the line of scrimmage

    • Every play that you call comes with four audibles that are predetermined for you, and they are a combination of run, pass, and play actions

    • However, those plays won't always be effective depending on what the defense is displaying

    • And unless you have a quarterback who is a Hot Route Master, your play is probably over even before the ball is snapped

       

    After you have selected a playbook that appeals to you, go into practice mode and go through each offensive configuration that is available. Determine which of them allow you to use motion receivers, as well as which ones have audibles that you enjoy switching to. Then, configure your audibles to have beaters for Cover 2, Cover 3, Blitz, and Man.

    Keep in mind that you are free to switch between formations at any time while you are at the line. Therefore, it is best to audible into a new formation that puts your quarterback in the gun if the defense is showing signs of blitzing.

    For instance, the 49ers playbook allows you to switch between the Singleback Deuce Close formation (in which the quarterback is under center) and the Gun Deuce Close formation (in which the quarterback is in the Gun) without your entire offense having to move around. You will effectively have nine plays at your disposal to run based on the defense if you pre-set audibles for both formations before the game begins. Flipping Gun Deuce Close has the added benefit of moving the RB to the opposite side, which enables you to quickly flip and continue running the play.

    Because certain audible formations are dependent on the personnel, you will need to play around in practice with the team and playbook that you intend to use. You can begin the game in a heavier set and then audible into a spread offense if you have two pass-catching tight ends who are quick on their feet. While this is going on, the computer will most likely send linebackers to stop anticipated run plays, which will give you the opportunity to pass all over them.

    Choose a play that isn't already in your audibles under no circumstances. In this way, you will always have at least five different plays at your disposal at the line of scrimmage. For those of you who are curious about how to make changes to your audibles while in the play call menu:

    In the play call menu, you can bring up your audibles for that formation by pressing the L2 button.

    If you want to make a change to the play, press the X button.

    Choose a new one from the options on the following menu.

    It's important to keep this in mind for all four audibles.

    We sincerely wish there was a mechanism that allowed you to secure your audibles between games. Unfortunately, each time you start a new game, you will need to reconfigure these settings again. Repetition helps you remember which changes need to be made to the formation and plays. However, do not go completely insane trying to alter everything on the very first play. Make use of the first drive of the game to set up a few different formations, but make sure to keep an eye on the play clock so that you don't get penalized for a delay of game. After that, adjust the formations as necessary during each succeeding drive until everything is in its proper place.

    This does not mean that you have to adjust your audibles every time a different formation appears in the playbook. Simply use the formations that you are most comfortable with and make sure you have enough options to keep your opponent guessing between drives.

    When it comes to defense, the same ideas apply, but they aren't explored in as much detail. Just make sure that your defensive formations are prepared to employ a cover 2 man, cover 2 zone, cover 3 formation, and a blitz package when necessary. To prevent being defeated in man coverage and audible into a zone defense if the offensive team comes out in a bunch formation or with the receivers positioned in close proximity to the line of scrimmage. Spread offensive formations are simpler to defend man-to-man when the defender possesses the speed to keep up with the offensive player.
